Snow

On Monday we got lots of snow. It still hasn't melted off of our yard. So for all of our southern friend eat your heart out on these pictures... and all of our northern friends please don't laugh!

Valentine Party

Last Tuesday our homeschool co-op had a Valentine Party. We had lots of fun eating yummy pizza, playing games and talking to friends!

Driving in the Snow!

We usually do not travel in the snow but on Monday it was inexcapable. We where over a friend's house when the snow started falling so we left as soon as possible. Because we were under a Winter snow warning Advisory.

Thankfully we started going home when we did before the snow really started accumulating and accidents began happening. On the interstate snow was dancing around and it looked very beautiful. But it only reminded me of how something beautiful can also be very dangerous. We where so happy when we finally got home. Because just in a mere 15 minutes the snow had really become slick!

The Anticipated Moment!

Everybody who knows me well knows that I love to knit! For about a year now I've been working on a shawl. I haven't been working on it for a whole year only the winter months starting last year shortly after Christmas. When the weather started turning warmer I lost my motivation to finish it because the shawl was so heavy but when the fall came around again last year I found myself picking it back up as I watched TV. Finally it got so long that when I was cold I could just lay it over my lap and it would keep me warm as I was knitting. The shawl was quit a big undertaking for me since before beginning this project I had only knitted scarves and washcloths. I had only been knitting for a few months and I didn't even have a pattern. I used another shawl as a measurement and this one actually ended up larger!
Finally last night as I was watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition I finished the shawl! I was so excited! As I mentioned before it was very warm as I was knitting it. But it is even warmer when I wear it as a shawl! I just had to share my news and some pictures we took.

Day at the Frazier Museum

Today we went to the Frazier Arms Museum, a large Museum in downtown Louisville. Our Grandparents got us a years pass as a family for Christmas since we enjoyed it so much on our former visits.
On special exhibit they have the remains of a slave ship, the Henrietta Marie, a remake of a slave traders office and shackles from the ruins of the ship. The thing that made it come most alive for us was how you could walk through the middle passage (where the slaves where kept) of a remake of the Henrietta Marie. I couldn't imagine staying in that small dark area for a day let alone several weeks or months.
The interpreters at Frazier are really good also. Today we saw a cowboy tell what it was like on the cattle drives and a double handed sword combat. The boys really liked both of those!
We finished up the visit by going through the gift shop. Andrew couldn't resist buying a toy knight. Our day at the Museum was lots of fun and we learned a lot, too!

This is our first entry. We are so excited about what the new year is going to bring us. One of our goals is to try to keep in touch with those who have touched our lives in the past. We realize that with the busyness of life this may be the easiest way. We are hoping to make this a family effort so you will be seeing posts from all of us. My name is Jonny and I'm the Dad. I am currently very busy. I am working on a Ph.D. in Church History at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, working full time at Huntington Learning Center, grading for a professor and teaching a class one night a week. I also have the privilege of serving as an elder at Grace Immanuel Church in LaGrange, KY. I love spending time with my family and reading books.

Hello! My name is Marseilles (Mar-say) and I'm the Mom of the White Family. Jonny and I have the privilege of raising a family that desires to honor and glorify God. My main priorities in my life right now are to serve God, encourage and be a help meet to my husband, and train my children. When I have a free moment I enjoy trying new restaurants, reading, and spending time with my family. In my idealistic world I would love to travel and see the world, but in my realistic world I am planted in Louisville, KY.

I am 15 years old. Doing school, playing games with my youngest brother, knitting and reading take up most of my time. My favorite books include: Mary Bunyan by Sallie Rochester Ford, The Pearl Maiden and The Brethren by H. Rider Haggard and of course the Bible. I love exploring woods, fields and any of God's creation! I also really like just hanging out and talking with my friends and family.

Hello everyone I'm Spencer and I'm 11 almost 12 and the oldest boy of the White clan. Present activities include school, reading, playing with my family and trying to glorify God. Some books I enjoy are The Chronicles of Narnia series, G.A. Henty's books and the Crown and Covenant series by Douglas Bond. On the other hand my favorite movies include Star Wars, Chronicles of Narnia, Hogan's Heroes and Facing the Giants.

Hi I'm Andrew! I'm 7 years old. I like to play games with my family and play with my toy soldiers! I like watching Davy Crockett, Star Wars and the Chronicles of Narnia. I like to read with Mommy.
